With over 160,000 necklift surgeries performed in the United States in 2020 alone, this procedure has become one of the most popular cosmetic procedures today. Drawing on more than 33 years of experience as an oculoplastic surgeon, Dr. Chip Cole uses his new campaign to explain everything a patient may need to know before choosing this operation.

Also known as a platysmaplasty, a necklift surgery can be performed using one of several methods, and is often combined with other procedures to provide a full-face rejuvenation. Which technique is right for each patient will be determined through a consultation with their surgeon, based on their physical characteristics and desired outcome.

The campaign explains that while most of the complications involved in a necklift procedure are uncommon, no surgery is entirely without risk. The potential hazards include reactions to the anesthetic, blood clots, scarring, and bleeding under the skin. These risks can be minimized by discussing any relevant medical history with the surgeon beforehand, and through proper care during the recovery process.

While the recovery process will be different for each patient, Dr. Chip Cole explains it can take 2 to 3 weeks for patients to resume their normal activities. During this time, patients often experience bruising, swelling, and discomfort, and their surgeon may suggest medications for the first several weeks.

The campaign explains that during recovery, many patients are put on restricted diets for a short time, or asked to wear a garment that holds their neck in an upright position. These requirements will vary from patient to patient and should be discussed with the surgeon before the operation.

This new campaign is the latest in a series from Dr. Chip Cole. He has completed over 33,000 surgeries and is recognized nationally and internationally as a surgical expert in facial rejuvenation and reconstruction.
