WASHINGTON - July 12, 2021 - PRLog -- Co-founders Camille Stewart and Lauren Zabierek announced the date and open application process for the 4th round of the #ShareTheMicInCyber collaboration, an education and outreach collective to increase awareness and the advancement for Black cyber experts in the cybersecurity, privacy, and tech industries. Beginning immediately, the cyber community can visit the new #ShareTheMicInCyber website, www.ShareTheMicInCyber.com, to participate in the internationally recognized campaign. The day-long campaign will take place on October 22nd, 2021 during Cybersecurity Awareness Month with other events planned throughout the month of October.

In celebration of Cybersecurity Awareness Month and in recognition of the urgency needed in the face of grave cyberattacks, the #ShareTheMicInCyber campaign will focus on collaboration between the public and private sectors.

"Amid increasingly sophisticated and dangerous ransomware and supply chain attacks on critical infrastructure and private sector entities, the new Executive Order, and confirmation of the inaugural National Cyber Director, all eyes are on collaboration between the public and private sectors to increase our resilience and protect our nation," says #ShareTheMicInCyber co-founder Lauren Zabierek.

"Grassroots movements like #ShareTheMicInCyber can be important forums to cultivate the trust that will drive public-private collaboration. This community is strong and supportive, committed to improving the industry, and well-positioned to tackle the complexity of public private partnerships in the same ways they've sought to eradicate systemic racism - through conversation, individual and collective action, accountability, and transparency," says #SharetheMicinCyber co-founder Camille Stewart.

The #ShareTheMicInCyber campaign is a digital collaborative bringing together Black cyber Practitioners and cyber allies from well-represented backgrounds specializing in security, privacy, and tech. Organizations such as Google, Twitter, SANS Institute, Recorded Future, Discernible, GirlSecurity, the Belfer Center, Craig Newmark Philanthropies, the Future of Privacy Forum, The Bridge Network, InkStick Media, and more have publicly supported the #ShareTheMicInCyber campaign. The campaign also provides scholarship opportunities to participants through an exclusive partnership with Women in Security and Privacy (WISP).
