"As a girl, I wanted to be a fashion designer. I followed that dream and got my BA in fashion and textile design between Buenos Aires, Argentina, where I was born and raised, and London. When I graduated, I had to write a research paper, and I picked a book by Li Edelkroot to use as a framework for my writing, and it was the first time I was exposed to trend forecasting. It became clear to me that although I didn't know which was my purpose, being a designer didn't fulfill the hunger I had for more. I'm curious by nature, and I love thinking, and even overthinking. It was clear I wanted more, and I was enjoying writing," Camila recalls.
In order to follow this desire, she worked as an editorial intern and assistant before pursuing higher education in an MFA in Visual Arts at Miami. She began freelancing for various publications and brands as a writer, and in between, had the opportunity to go to Spain to get a master's certification in trend forecasting. It was there that she fell in love with the practice. After that watershed trip, she started contributing with some of the top trend agencies worldwide and got trained by them, expanding her skill set exponentially.
"What makes me different from the rest is my trend-driven approach to brands. I use my vast and unusual combination of skills to help brands identify what's their secret sauce, their unique point of view, their place in this world, and their tribe. And I show them ways to connect and resonate with today's consumers so they can become who they aspire to be. I helped them create culturally relevant ideas in an ever-evolving landscape and for a multi-everything world. I become the brand's thinking partner opening their minds to new possibilities and innovative ways of doing things so they can break from the pack," Camila outlines.
Camila manages to accomplish so much in her day to day because she, in her own words, is fueled by creativity and driven by dreams. She was motivated to help people think about their companies in new ways, help them innovate, and open an array of future-proof possibilities. To her, this experience is priceless. She sees how by showing clients new ways to align with today's and tomorrow's world, to flow, connect, and sell, she really does help them fulfill their dreams.
"That's the most fulfilling thing for me. Helping people think outside the box and jumpstart their creativity and critical thinking by exposing them to hints of future change that can affect their brands. And I love helping them strategize with trends and use them as our secret weapon," Camila says.
Camila focuses on her mindset to find success. The key, she's found, is vision. Having a vision, holding to that vision, cleaning your mind daily, having a healthy routine, and taking care of yourself is a vital part of why Camila is so successful.
"When you find your purpose, the mindset comes easier because when you have a clear purpose, you find value in what you do, and others do too. So, with a clear purpose, you are more resilient, work happier, more creative, and out of that alignment and vision, success comes easier," Camila explains.
