Major Zulu’s performance, titled Major Zulu: Unpacked - Journey, Soul & Stories from the Earth’s Own Suitcase, invites audiences to experience an evening of heartfelt storytelling and live music. Known for her commanding stage presence and rich, earthy vocal tone, Zulu has been described by Women in Pop Magazine as “a captivating performer who oozes charisma with that rare ability to make a room feel intimate. Her voice doesn’t just reach you; it surrounds you like a warm hug.”
Her performance at The Concourse Lounge follows a series of sold-out shows at major venues, including the Sydney International Women’s Jazz Festival, Jazz in the Vineyard, and Vivid LIVE 2025. Zulu has also performed alongside Norah Jones, Amy Winehouse, Paolo Nutini, and Earth, Wind & Fire, and was a lead vocalist for the Grammy-winning band Basement Jaxx.
Audiences can expect a soulful rendition of her latest releases, including “Honey Honey,” “Down Under”, and “Music Sounds Better with You”, all featured on her "I Am Major Zulu" EP — a project sponsored by Create NSW that celebrates her multicultural experiences through rhythm and emotion. Jazz critic Eric Myers notes, “Like all great singers, Major Zulu has great presence and, like a skilled artist, knows how to sell a song.”
Joining her on stage is Newcastle’s Cormac Grant, whose soulful Americana and storytelling lyrics complement Zulu’s sound. His performances, described as “heartfelt conversations in song”, add an extra layer of warmth to the evening’s lineup.
The event will feature Sydney’s finest jazz and soul musicians, offering a live experience that combines authenticity with artistry. Premium seating ($76.40) includes assigned seats and an antipasti platter, while cabaret seating ($51.40) offers general admission for all ages.
