Lowest Price Prescription Drug Comparison & Lookup Site For Seniors Updated

CareCard announces updates to its medication retail membership program for the senior population.

CareCard's latest updates provide elderly people with access to affordable medications from around 60,000 participating pharmacies nationwide. The program gathers cost information on medications from major pharmacies, allowing users to compare prices and find the most affordable retailer in their locale.

CareCard's search function allows seniors and their caregivers to enter their zip code and the name of their required medication. Once a user has decided which retailer is most affordable and convenient, they bring their CareCard to their chosen pharmacy to access the concessionary rates on their purchase.

The company highlights how the costs of prescriptions can vary by as much as $100 between different pharmacies. According to the CareCard website, insurance companies are now passing on 25 to 80% more of the cost of drugs to patients.

Everyone is eligible to use CareCard. The program does not provide any form of medical insurance so there are no restrictions or requirements. “Our prices are often better than what insurance can offer,” a spokesperson says. “When CareCard offers a better prescription price, use us instead. Just remember that when you use CareCard, the purchases will not count towards your insurance or Medicare deductibles.”

The program helps those who fall victim to the so-called Medicare "donut hole" issue - where individuals face a coverage gap when they have spent a specified amount of their allotted medication benefits. CareCard helps reduce the excess costs that users would otherwise have to absorb in full.

CareCard also caters to seniors who are less mobile and rely on mail-order prescription services. The company works with several mail-order companies but recommends that users check with their normal provider to ensure they will honor the CareCard program.

For everyone else, the spokesperson adds, “Our prescription savings card is accepted at CVS, Walgreens, Rite Aid, Walmart, Costco, Duane Reade, Publix, Kroger, Albertsons, and many more. Simply bring the CareCard coupon to the pharmacy and ask the pharmacist to process your prescription using the information on the card.”
