Program Expands to Allow for More Arbitrators Wanting to develop mastery of professional skills in the commercial arbitration Field
AUSTIN, TX – The College of Commercial Arbitrators (CCA), a professional, collegial organization established in 2001, has opened registration for the second year of the CCA Diversity Associates program. The opportunity is intended to offer less experienced diverse arbitrators the opportunity to benefit from the education, experience and networking opportunities that can be presented by the CCA Fellows and increase the chances of their providing ongoing and meaningful services as commercial arbitrators. In particular, the program aims to assist women, people of color, and other individuals and groups of individuals that historically have not been included in meaningful participation in the field of commercial arbitration.
“The 2022-23 inaugural year for the CCA Diversity Associate program was a tremendous success,” said Tyrone Holt, CCA Fellow and Co-Chair of the mentorship program. “The successful first year confirms for all of us, and the commercial arbitration professional, the need for this type of mentorship and training program for relatively new commercial arbitrators who are within the first five years of gaining experience and developing their practices.”
Up from three associates during its inaugural year, four applicants will be chosen this time to participate and those selected will have a two-year run through 2025. Applicants must meet requirements such as currently having an active alternative dispute resolution practice, having less than five years of experience serving as a commercial arbitrator, and being committed to learning and developing the skills needed to provide high-quality commercial arbitration services.
Arbitrators interested in applying for the mentorship program can visit https://www.ccarbitrators.org/cca-associates-program/. The deadline to apply is March 15, 2023 and arbitrator selections will be announced on June 15, 2023.
