America’s Home Front in WWII by C D Peterson is a gripping, human-centered chronicle of the men, women, and children who fueled the war effort from their kitchens, neighborhoods, and factory floors. Far from the frontlines, this book explores the lives of ordinary citizens who found themselves in extraordinary circumstances during the war, be it rationing food, building planes, defending their coasts, or redefining the American spirit during one of the most turbulent eras in history.
Written by someone who lived it, C D Peterson brings a rare authenticity to this sweeping narrative. Raised on a New England dairy farm and shaped by wartime experiences, Peterson blends personal memory with historical depth. From the rise of Rosie the Riveter to the civil defense volunteers keeping watch at night, his book offers a vivid and unforgettable picture of the sacrifices, courage, and transformation that occurred across the American home front. It recounts the resilience and strength of the human spirit and the determination of those who sacrificed everything for the sake of their homeland.
Filled with first-person accounts, cultural snapshots, and a deep sense of time and place, this book is a front face of patriotism and will. It is a heritage and a powerful tribute to a generation that held the country together during its darkest hours. While the war has come to an end, America’s Home Front in WWII reminds us of those who were there to offer themselves for the betterment of us.

About the Author:
C D Peterson was born and raised on a family dairy farm in New England. An engaging narrator, he is among the last who can write from personal experience about the scarcity of the depression, the fear, sacrifices, and patriotism during World War II, and the exuberance in that brief, post-war period when we felt safe and when the middle class was born.
Growing up during the war inspired him to become a naval aviator. In 1955, days after graduating from high school, he enlisted in the Navy, was selected for flight training, and earned his wings at age 19. He saw flight service during the Cuban Crisis.
Peterson graduated from MIT as a recipient of a prestigious Sloan Fellowship, which supports and recognizes early-career scientists and managers. His business career included many years with International Paper Company and then with Danbury Hospital, from which he retired.
Prior to writing Home Front, he had written five business books, numerous essays, and audio and video tapes. He has also written several pieces about fly fishing, published a poem, and an award-winning song. He is the proud father of three interesting children. He and his wife live in Connecticut.
