NHS Doctor Opens Series of Private Clinics in London

London GP Neil Bhadresha has decided to go it alone and has opened a number of private walk in clinics in and around Central London. His company is called “Pop Up Docs” and he hopes to have sites popping up all over London very soon.

Dr. Bhadresha states “The business was started in 2022. The idea of the business is to provide patients with longer appointments, and provide holistic care to achieve great  long term health outcomes. As a NHS GP I found that a rushed 10 minute appointment was not long enough to impact people's overall health and inform them about disease prevention. It was firefighting rather than education. However with longer appointments, we reinstate the traditional patient doctor relationship in order to achieve better health outcomes. Through this relationship, and in turn understanding the nuances of different people, is what I've enjoyed most about this business.”

Bhadresha studied at Oxford University and completed his training at St Thomas’s Hospital in London. When asked about his future aims for the business he continues, ”In the future I would like to establish affordable and convenient healthcare at different sites across London. Each location will be manned by the same GP to ensure that a long term relationship is established with patients.”

Bhadresha has a number of other business ideas and one embraces the use of technology, ideas which developed through his time working on the Med Tech scene in San Francisco and Palo Alto. He reveals, ”Over the next year we would also like to roll out an app so that patients can message their doctors directly, with confidence and security”

With junior doctors striking this week and news of the NHS being constantly in crisis, Dr. Bhadresha is aware of the pitfalls involved in providing medical services in the UK. He feels there is a unique place in the market for more personalised expert medical care. He feels that “The main problem is that private healthcare is a competitive space to be in. There are many companies offering tests and medication for patients at prices that are just as low as ours. However, this fails to encompass sound medical opinion and expertise by doctors you can trust.”

As more and more people struggle to get an appointment with their GP there will be more and more people looking for alternative medical services and Pop Up Docs will be perfectly placed to serve the new found demand.
