Citizens Against Government Waste Names Federal Trade Commission Chair Lina Khan November 2024 Porker of the Month

Today, Citizens Against Government Waste (CAGW) named Federal Trade Commission (FTC) Chair Lina Khan its November 2024 Porker of the Month for consistently overreaching her authority, violating ethics standards, and pushing anti-capitalist policies.

Since she was appointed, FTC Chair Khan has abused her power, breached ethics standards, and advanced an anti-capitalist agenda. Chair Khan has blocked pro-competitive and pro-consumer mergers by “throwing sand in the gears of every stage of the merger review and approval process.” Instead of helping U.S. companies succeed, Chair Khan used taxpayer money to coordinate with European authorities to impose costly new restrictions on them. Chair Khan created a toxic workplace that caused a massive collapse of morale and departure of many FTC staff members.

CAGW President Tom Schatz said, “Chair Khan’s abysmal management of the FTC and her destructive policies have been problematic since the beginning of her tenure. She has continuously failed to adhere to the boundaries of her authority and subverted the FTC’s mission to her anti-capitalist theories. Taxpayers should be giving thanks that she is going to be replaced. Her failures make her an easy choice for November Porker of the Month.”

Citizens Against Government Waste is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization dedicated to eliminating waste, fraud, abuse, and mismanagement in government. For more than two decades, Porker of the Month is a dubious honor given to lawmakers and government officials who have shown a blatant disregard for the taxpayers.
