Customers Can Now Combine Cost Data With Real-time Usage Metrics to Improve Cloud Efficiency
Vantage, the leading cloud cost management platform that provides actionable insights for every engineer, today announced the availability of Usage-Based Reporting for AWS, Google Cloud, and Microsoft Azure. This new feature allows users to monitor their cloud resource usage in real time using non-monetary metrics, such as virtual machine (VM) running hours, stored gigabytes of data, and read/write units consumed. With the ability to easily access both cost and usage metrics, Vantage customers gain more comprehensive visibility into resource consumption to improve efficiency and performance, while also reducing spend.
“As cloud usage continues to grow, organizations need greater transparency into both cost and consumption to achieve their FinOps objectives,” said Jevin Jensen, research vice president, Intelligent CloudOps Market at IDC. “Having visibility into both usage metrics and costs helps businesses control spending more effectively, as well as optimize their infrastructure and support long-term strategic planning. This dual approach to cloud management allows companies to make more informed decisions that align with their financial and operational goals.”
According to IDC forecasts1, global spending on public cloud services is projected to reach $805 billion in 2024—and double in size by 2028. With cloud being one of the largest expenses for many businesses, there is growing pressure to make more efficient use of these resources. This means finding ways to optimize usage, improve performance, and free up budget for future innovation. Visibility into both usage and costs is essential to achieving these objectives.
“Usage-Based Reporting is another important step in giving our customers even greater flexibility to manage and optimize their cloud resources,” said Ben Schaechter, co-founder and CEO of Vantage. “By simplifying how teams track both cost and usage, we’re helping them make smarter, more informed decisions that improve efficiency and reduce unnecessary spend.”
Vantage users can leverage the new Usage-Based Reporting to quickly toggle between cost and usage metrics, offering a real-time view of resources across applications and teams. Users can switch between viewing the current filtered scope and grouping data by either cost or usage. The report includes detailed usage figures, displaying both the usage quantity and the billing units from the cloud provider, which have been standardized for consistency. This helps users spot trends, optimize resource use, and optimize costs more efficiently.
Historically, any time a business wanted to understand correlations of cost and usage, they would need to create and export separate metrics from each provider and manually compile reporting on their consumption. This process is time consuming, prone to human error, and out of date once created. With Usage-Based Reporting, customers can quickly integrate usage metrics directly into existing cost reports to streamline reporting and analysis.
Usage-Based Reporting is now available to all Vantage customers for AWS, Google Cloud, and Microsoft Azure. For more information, read the blog post, visit the documentation page, or request a demo.
