Curative Launches Innovative Health Insurance Plan in Florida, Eliminating Copays and Deductibles*

Curative’s new health plan model addresses shortcomings of traditional plans, as new survey findings show how current health insurance coverage in Florida negatively impacts residents

Forty-four percent of Floridians express dissatisfaction with their health coverage due to unaffordable out-of-pocket costs

Curative Insurance Company, a pioneering healthcare services company, is now expanding its no copay, no deductible fully insured benefit offering* across Florida to serve Florida-based employers and their employees in the state and nationwide. Curative offers a large PPO provider network in Florida and a broad nationwide network of providers to support its unique solution. The launch comes as Curative recently conducted a survey of 1,200 Florida residents in Orlando, Tampa, and Miami enrolled in employer-sponsored insurance plans** to better understand the issues members experience with traditional health insurance plans.

Conducted in collaboration with The Health Analytics and Insights Group, the survey results found that a staggering 44% of Florida residents revealed that the main reason they are dissatisfied with their current health insurance coverage is their inability to afford out-of-pocket costs such as deductibles and copays. This lack of affordability results in significant financial stress and increased health issues as employees forgo needed medical care. The findings point to a looming health crisis and the failure of traditional health plans to provide adequate access to care.

Additional key findings:

  • 32% of those with employer-based health insurance have an outstanding medical debt. Over the past 12 months, more than two-thirds (67%) have used varied means to pay for out-of-pocket costs, including 24% who have increased their credit card debt and 23% who have dipped into their savings to cover health care expenses.
  • Moreover, 59% of respondents expressed that they had postponed or refrained from receiving necessary medical care or treatment due to the financial requirements of their existing health plan model.
    • Women are significantly more likely to defer care compared to men (42% vs. 26%).
  • 54% of survey participants feel that their personal or family’s health impacts their work performance. On top of that, 46% of total respondents had their monthly health insurance premiums increased in the last year.

Curative’s unique $0 copay, $0 deductible plan* is a progressive solution to traditional health plans and gives members affordable access to high-quality health care. The Curative plan is now available to employers headquartered in Florida with 51 or more eligible employees nationwide, with broad national network coverage and access to almost 1 million providers nationwide. With the launch of its health insurance plan in Florida, Curative enters a new phase of growth, solidifying its position as a leader in transforming the healthcare landscape.

Curative’s study across Florida provides the specific details of why traditional healthcare plans aren’t meeting the needs of the insured workers of the state. In Orlando, 32% of residents feel that their employers do not prioritize their health and well-being, as opposed to 25% in Miami and 29% in Tampa. The findings emphasize the challenges encountered by working Floridians, revealing how concerns over affordability result in delayed or avoided care, impacting the health and well-being of those who power the Florida economy.

"Our survey clearly demonstrates that accessing and affording healthcare is challenging for a large number of Floridians with employer-sponsored health insurance. It is essential for individuals to know that they will be able to afford care when they need it,” said Fred Turner, CEO and co-founder of Curative. “As we have seen across Texas, Curative’s health plan is constructed to fix the shortcomings of traditional health insurance by removing the financial barriers to care by offering $0 copays and $0 deductibles. This enables members to prioritize their well-being through preventative care and addressing issues early before they develop into serious ailments. A healthy economy starts with a healthy population and workforce, and we’re eager to make a difference in Florida.”

The Curative health plan in Florida offers comprehensive coverage, encompassing wellness, preventive care, behavioral health services, primary and specialty care, office and hospital visits, prescription drugs, and all accessible through a high-quality PPO network. To continue to qualify for the extensive list of benefits without OOP costs, members simply need to complete a baseline visit within 120 days of the plan's effective date, granting them $0 copays and $0 deductibles for all in-network healthcare services.
