Partnership to enable patients and families to nominate extraordinary nurses via patient experience surveys
Press Ganey, renowned leader in patient, member, employee and consumer experience across the healthcare ecosystem, is partnering with The DAISY Foundation to seamlessly integrate exceptional nurse recognition into the patient feedback experience. The DAISY Foundation’s mission is to express gratitude to nurses with recognition programs that celebrate the extraordinary, compassionate, and skillful care they provide patients and families.
Press Ganey will include DAISY Award® nomination information within its patient experience (PX) surveys, beginning with Emory Hospital in Atlanta and the University of California at San Francisco Medical Center, which are both piloting the new partnership. Press Ganey will make this option available to the more than 5,400 healthcare facilities that partner with DAISY.
Nurses highlighted through patient survey feedback will be instantly nominated for The DAISY Award® for Extraordinary Nurses. Both digital and physical copies of the Press Ganey patient experience survey will include a direct way to nominate these outstanding nurses for The DAISY Award.
Said Bonnie Barnes, Co-founder of The DAISY Foundation, “Press Ganey will be an invaluable partner in increasing the reach of our mission to celebrate nursing excellence across the country.”
Dr. Deborah Zimmerman, chief executive officer, The DAISY Foundation added, “Commemorating and highlighting exceptional work leads to greater staff engagement and team morale, which have never been more crucial for frontline healthcare workers. Through our partnership, we can provide simple and easy access to The DAISY Award nomination process for patients and their families, ensuring more outstanding nurses will be recognized every year.”
“The DAISY Award is one of the most prestigious, meaningful nursing recognitions in our industry because the nominations come directly from the patients who receive incredible care from our country’s frontline nursing staff,” said Dr. Jeff Doucette, chief nursing officer at Press Ganey. “At Press Ganey, we see the direct correlation between empowered nurses and improved patient outcomes. We’re honored to partner with The DAISY Foundation to increase the reach of their wonderful work to recognize and celebrate outstanding and compassionate patient care provided by our nation’s nurses.”
Since 1999, The DAISY Award has honored over 189,000 nurses who provide above-and-beyond compassionate care to patients and families. All Press Ganey client partners interested in participating in this program should contact their managing director for more details.

About the DAISY Foundation
The DAISY Foundation is a not-for-profit organization established in memory of J. Patrick Barnes by members of his family. The compassionate care Patrick and his family received from nurses while he was ill inspired the creation of The DAISY Award® for Extraordinary Nurses, an evidenced-based means of providing nurse recognition and thanking nurses for making a profound difference in the lives of their patients and patient families.
