University of Phoenix College of Doctoral Studies Plans Dissertation Workshop to Support Doctoral Students

Workshop is open to participants from programs outside the University

The University of Phoenix College of Doctoral Studies supports doctoral students seeking publication with college infrastructure resources including an upcoming dissertation workshop beginning January 12.

Dissertation to Publication (DTP) workshop is a four month web-based workshop that teaches the art of developing a publishable manuscript based on a dissertation, and supports the participants to submit their manuscripts to peer-reviewed journals. The workshop focuses on the process and the finished product – a publishable manuscript.

“DTP workshops have been very successful by providing unique opportunity and valuable resources for the participants to publish in peer reviewed journals,” shares Hinrich Eylers, Ph.D., P.E., vice provost of University of Phoenix. “It is a unique offering and since its establishment, we have had over 600 doctoral alumni and faculty members attend the workshop. In turn, they have so far developed and submitted over 400 manuscripts to peer reviewed journals.”

The workshop provides structured support and guidelines via asynchronous platforms and synchronous monthly web-based meetings. Target journals for publication are identified at the beginning of the workshop. The manuscripts are broken down into three major sections of introduction, method, and results. The committee of reviewers work closely with the participants to review, revise, and finalize their manuscripts. Participants submit their manuscripts to their target journal by the end of the workshop. The committee of reviewers are experienced faculty who support the participants throughout the manuscript development.

DTP workshop was first established in fall of 2016 and is offered each fall and spring. It was developed and is hosted by Mansureh Kebritchi, Ph.D., Chair of the Center for Educational and Instructional Technology Research (CEITR) at University of Phoenix. The list of subsequent selected publications resulting from the DTP workshop can be viewed here.

Those eligible to participate are graduated doctoral students and doctoral students close to graduation, who are interested in publishing their doctoral dissertations (in all disciplines). Dissertation chairs and committee members may participate with their doctoral students and will be co-authors.

Registration for the workshop is open until December 31 and the cost is $250, which is waived for University of Phoenix affiliates (students, faculty, alumni). Learn more about the workshop registration here.
