(b) On April 11, 2007, New York Community Bancorp, Inc. (the
"Company") issued a press release announcing that Mr. Thomas
A. Doherty, a director of the Company and of its primary
subsidiaries, New York Community Bank and New York Commercial
Bank, had passed away on April 7, 2007. The press release is
attached as Exhibit 99.1.
