Item 8.01 Other Events
As previously announced, The AES Corporation (“AES”) and the Brazilian National Development Bank (“BNDES”) reached an agreement to terminate the Sul Option in exchange for the transfer by AES of another wholly owned AES subsidiary, AES Infoenergy Ltda., to Brasiliana Energia and $15 million in cash. On August 21, 2006, all conditions to the consummation of the agreement were satisfied and the Sul Option was terminated.
